‘Featured Artist,’ Yelawolf (ft. Kid Rock), ‘Let’s Roll’

January 11th, 2012  |  by Nels Thoreson   |  Published in Songs of the Day

This is the first time The Troubadour’s Road has had two songs of the day, but the second song could not wait.  Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases Gadsden, Alabama’s own, Yelawolf (ft. Kid Rock), with his song, “Let’s Roll,” off his album, Radioactive, through Shady Records/Interscope Records, with Eminem as the executive producer.  When talking about the album name, rapper Michael Atha said, “I think its a perfect word to describe where I’m going,” says the Alabama born rapper. “It’s the fallout, the aftermath of everything I’ve been through and here’s what’s left. This radioactive material.”

This song, currently, has 308 views on YouTube, but is sure on a race to a million views, for the video debuted today.  This song will be huge.  Yelawolf will be an artist to look out for in 2012, for if this is the start, there is no ceiling.

These words find their place in the song, “Let’s Roll,”

[Kid Rck - hook]
Yeah, I’m throwed off
Aint about the money I’ma blow it off
I made my own lane, let’s roll, lets roll
Yeah, I’m going off
Aint got a whole lot but I’mma show it off
Better recognise game, lets roll, lets roo-ooooll

[Yelawolf - Verse 1]
Yeah, now let me welcome you to my small town
Big trucks in the yard, big bucks on the wall, country folks all around
How I was raised, 808 drums quaking they shake that box 88
And the dope boys hotter than hells gate but I still in the shade
With a fold up chair, a 30 pack on the back of that tailgate
A-L-A B-A-M-A I’m off I might pee in the lake
I might go to Talladega and see me a race
Bring me case, yeah I’m bringing a case
I’m gettin’ throwed off…
