Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases the incredible, Xavier Rudd, with Izintaba, with their song, “Time To Smile,” off their album, Koonyum Sun, through Anti in Europe, Universal in Australia, and Fontana in US/Canada. This is the sixth studio album for the Australian musician, activist and surfer.
This song, along with his many others, are a testament of positivity that Rudd continually conveys. His words are messages, and inspire a lot of good in this mad world. He is not only a musician, but uses his craft for the betterment of his community, his country and the world. He also uses his voice to champion change, and to protest what is unjust.
His most recent cause involves a project called Save the Kimberley, which is an independent awareness organization that exists to engage and educate the Australian and international community about the threat to the Kimberley Coast and its inland wilderness areas posed by gas and large-scale industrial development proposals. One can only hope that their efforts will truly Save the Kimberley.
Rudd has also inspired and influenced those to pursue their passions here in Colorado. My buddy, Craig Johnson, volunteers his time at the Denver chapter of the Sea Shepherd Society, and my friend, Jenilee Wallskog, has decided to start a non-profit called, Sophie’s Pet Pantry, to feed animals in need. As is his message in his song, “Better People,” they are a great example of the better people that are doing a lot of good.
These words find their place in his song, “Time to Smile,”
“See I’m packing things in my bag today,
And I’m, heading south to my country again.
Summer is coming, it’s time to smile.
See now worry and change it has spun me around,
My big old heart has been ripped right out.
Summer is coming, it’s time to smile...”
