Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” comes from the band, The Script, with their song, “For The First Time,” off their album, Science and Faith, through Phonogenic Records.  The guys are from across the pond, hailing from Dublin, Ireland.  The band consists of Danny O’Donoghue (keys and vocals), Mark Sheehan (guitar) and Glen Power (drums).  Their musical road was one of rags to riches, as they struck gold with their self-titled album, but it wasn’t without a struggle, for the band began in 2001.  They have since followed up with the critically acclaimed album, Science and Faith, of which “For The First Time” is on.

The song and music video are really powerful, and depicts the hardship that seems to happen far too often in this mad world.  Life is truly an adventure.  It’s always interesting to see whose hand a person grabs to take on the world with, and to see how it all works out.

Lyrics always catch my eye, and these words find their place in the song, “For The First Time,”

“She needs me now but I can’t seem to find the time,
I’ve got a new job now on the unemployment line,
And we don’t know how,
How we got into this mess
Is it God’s test,
Someone help us ’cause we’re doing our best,

Trying to make it work, but man these times are hard

But we’re gonna start by
Drinking on cheap bottles of wine,
Sit talking up all night,
Saying things we haven’t for awhile
Awhile, ya
We’re smiling but we’re close tears,
Even after all these years,
We just now got the feeling that we’re meeting for the first time …”
