Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases Denver, Colorado’s own, The Lumineers, with their song, “Flowers In Your Hair,” with an accompanying video of clips from their touring adventures in 2011.  This is but a preview of what is to come, for The Lumineers have made some big announcements in the past week.  They recently signed with Dualtone Records, their song, “Ho Hey,” is available for purchase on iTunes, their self-titled debut album will be released April 3, 2012, and they released their 2012 tour dates.  The Lumineers have dates here in Colorado, on March 2nd, at the Snowball Music Festival, in Avon, have a show at Misaka, in Bellvue, April 6th, and then have their hometown record release show, at the Bluebird Theater, May 11th, with shows throughout the country in between these dates.

The trio consists of Wesley Schultz ( Lead Vocals, Guitar, Piano), Jeremiah Fraites (Drums, Yells), and Neyla Pekarek (Cello, Piano).  Like I said, this is just a preview of what is to come, for 2012 looks more than bright for The Lumineers.  The best advice is to jump in the back of the truck and go along for the ride, for they’re bound for somewhere special.  Let the wind rage through your hair and embrace the sights and sounds as they take a drive down the troubadour’s road.

These words find their place in the song, “Flowers In Your Hair ,”

“WHEN WE WERE YOUNGER WE THOUGHT
EVERYONE WAS ON OUR SIDE
THEN WE GREW A LITTLE BIT
AND ROMANTICIZED THE TIME I SAW
FLOWERS IN YOUR HAIR
IT TAKES A BOY TO LIVE
IT TAKES A MAN TO PRETEND HE WAS THERE

SO THEN WE GREW A LITTLE AND KNEW A LOT
AND HOW WE DEMONSTRATED IT TO THE COPS
AND ALL THE THINGS WE SAID
WE WERE SELF-ASSURED

CAUSE IT’S A LONG ROAD TO WISDOM
BUT IT’S A SHORT ONE
TO BEING IGNORED

BE IN MY EYES
BE IN MY HEART
BE IN MY EYES AI YAI YAI
AND BE IN MY HEART

SO NOW I THINK THAT I COULD
LOVE YOU BACK
AND I HOPE IT’S NOT TOO LATE CAUSE YOU’RE ATTRACTIVE
AND THE WAY YOU MOVE
I WON’T CLOSE MY EYES
IT TAKES A MAN TO LIVE
IT TAKES A WOMAN TO MAKE HIM COMPROMISE

BE IN MY EYES
BE IN MY HEART
BE IN MY EYES AI YAI YAI
AND BE IN MY HEART…”
