Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases Huntington Beach, California’s own, The Dirty Heads, with their song, “Cabin By The Sea,” with is the title-track of their new album, which was released on June 19th, 2012, through Five Seven Music.  The group consists of Dustin Bushnell (Vocals/Guitar), Jared Watson (Vocals), Jon Olazabal (Percussion), Matt Ochoa (Drums), and David Foral (Bass).  “It starts with the title. No matter where you are or what’s going on, when you hear this record, we want to transport you to this place, this ‘Cabin by the Sea.’”, says The Dirty Heads front man Jared “Dirty J” Watson.  The album is the follow-up to their debut breakthrough, Any Port in the Storm, which was released in 2008, and included hit, “Lay Me Down.”  The song found itself at #1 on the Billboard Alternative Charts for eleven weeks, which is a record for a song released independently.

“Cabin By The Sea” is following in the footsteps on “Lay Me Down” and may even surpass those milestones, as it may be the song, for many, of the summer.  The Dirty Heads are on a huge  US tour, playing throughout the US, and are headed to Colorado in September, playing The Fillmore, September 8th, and the Belly Up, in Aspen, on September 9th.  Be sure to check out their tour dates to check out a show near you.

These words begin the song, “Cabin By The Sea,”

“Well come with me to a place by the sea,
If your ship breaks down, you can always find me,
And Dirty J chillin’ underneath the shady tree ,
Our fans are always welcome with our friends and family.

And if you wish you can stay, as long as you please
Just lend a helping hand up at our cabin by the sea
Where everyday is beautiful, the sun, the sand, the breeze
And everybody lives together here in harmony

And we’ll sing
Just as loud as we please,
And we will be,
Forever so free,
So come follow me, cabin by the sea…”
