Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases San Francisco, California’s own, Tea Leaf Green, with their song, “Nothing Changes,” off their album, Radio Tragedy!, released June 7, 2011, through Greenhouse Records.  The album was produced by Jeremy Black, and combines their talents in a live-setting as well as in the studio.  This is a very impressive album, and other songs on the record will be featured in future articles of The Troubadour’s Road.

The band is comprised of the talented musicians- Trevor Garrod (keys, vocals), Josh Clark (guitar, vocals), Scott Rager (drums), Reed Mathis (bass, vocals) and new member Cochrane McMillan (drums).  When talking about the new album, Clark said, ““Much of this record is a reflection on the ups and downs on the road to radio gold, chasing dreams and ghosts on America’s highways and finding triumph, sorrow and sacrifice in the pursuit.  Tea Leaf Green has been a band for over a decade. We’ve tried to simply focus on music, just music, honest music, operating in the shadow of braggart auto-tuned rappers and inane teeny bop prop puppets that has come to rule and choke the life out of what was once America’s greatest export – rock and roll.”

These words begin the song, “Nothing Changes,”

Thunderstorm is coming
I see it through the door
If I get struck by lightning
My heart won’t beat any more
In other words…
Nothing changes

I went down to the river
The water is turning brown
If the levy breaks
I will surely drown
In other words…
Nothing changes

I’m drivin through the field
 A field sowed with corn
I saw a dead dog lyin on the side of the road
My baby left me yesterday
She packed up all her clothes
She said I would never change..”
