Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases the band, Phosphorescent, with their song, “Wolves,” off the album, Pride, through Dead Oceans.  The sole member of the band is the talented, Mathew Houck, who hails from Athens, Georiga.  This record was the first album working with Dead Oceans; he has since released, To Willie, a tribute to Willie Nelson, and his latest release, He’s to Taking it Easy, which came out in 2010.  Songs off those albums will be featured in future articles of The Troubadour’s Road.

Houck has upcoming tour dates in Australia in November.  The US awaits his next trek across the country.

These words find their place in their song, “Wolves,”

“Mama there’s wolves in the house
Mama they won’t let me out
Mama they’re mating at night
Mama they wont make nice

They’re pacing and glowing bright
Their faces all snowy and white
Bury their paws in the stone
Make for my heart as their home

They tumble and fight
And they’re beautiful
On the hilltops at night
They are beautiful

Blazing with light
Is the whitest and the tallest and the biggest one
She’s muscled and fine
When she runs…”

For updates, tour dates, and other news click on their website, you can buy their music on iTunes, and follow them on their Facebook Page.  Until the next time you’ll be able to see them, or until the next time you’ll be able to listen to them, here is Phosphorescent, with their song, “Wolves,” from Houck’s session at KEXP Radio Studio in Seattle, enjoy,
