Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases San Francisco, California’s own, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, with  their cover of the Hall and Oates song, “I Can’t Go For That,” through their Van Sessions, and shows how some artists pass the time on the countless hours they have traveling from gig to gig.  The band is comprised of Bluhm, her husband, Tim, Deren Ney (guitar), Steve Adams (bass), Dave Mulligan (rhythm guitar), and Mike Curry Curry (drums).

The band’s recent record, Driftwood, was released in 2011, and Bluhm has been a staple in the San Francisco music scene.  Songs from that record will be featured in future articles of The Troubadour’s Road.

Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers have numerous tour dates in the coming months, with many in California.  Be sure to catch a live-show.  Colorado awaits the next stop, knowing that drive could garner some more incredible Van Session covers.

These words find their place in the song, “I Can’t Go For That,”

“Easy, ready, willing, overtime,
Where does it stop, where do you dare me to draw the line.
You’ve got the body, now you want my soul,
Don’t even think about it, say no go.
I– I ‘ll do anything that you want me to do,
And I’ll do almost anything, that you want me too, ooh,
But I can’t go for that, (No can do)
No, I can’t go for that, (No can do)
Oh, I can’t go for that, (No can do)
…”
