Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases Oregon-born, now Nashville-based, Mat Kearney, with his song, “Ships In The Night,” off his album, Young Love, through Universal Republic Records.  The album was released on August 2, 2011.  When talking about the album, Kearney said, “I approached Young Love like a singer-songwriter would approach a hip-hop record.  We would start with beats or grooves that your body already responds to. It was a fun and fulfilling experiment.”

Below is the lyric video of “Ships In The Night.”  Kearney and crew are about to start shooting a music video for the song, and have asked fans for help in finding symmetrical locations to shoot (bridges, landscapes, tunnels, buildings, etc).  The cities in which they are asking for help are:  Kansas City, Colorado Springs, Denver, Aspen, Missoula, Salt Lake City, Spokane, Seattle.  If any fans have an idea or a picture feel free to send it to:  matkearneyvideo@gmail.com.  They anticipate the video to come out in March.

These words find there place in his song, “Ships In The Night,”

“Like ships in the night
You keep passing me by
We’re just wasting time
Trying to prove who’s right
And if it all goes crashing into the sea
If it’s just you and me
Trying to find the light
Like ships in the night
You’re passing me by
You’re passing me by
Like ships in the night

And I’m gonna find my way
Back to your side
And I’m gonna find my way
Back to your side…”
