Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases Georgia’s own, Kalen Nash, with his song, “Ramona,” off his album, Ukred, through New West Records/Normal Town Records. This is his debut solo album, but have no fear Ponderosa fans, for that band is still going strong, as well. This album pays respect and is named for his great-grandfather, Euquid “Ukred” Lee Nash, and is a fitting and special tribute, for Ukred wrote the song, “Don’t You Love Me Baby,” which is the record’s first track. One can be sure that with this record the namesake of the record would be beyond proud of what his grandson produced. Along with those two songs, “White Oak” also stands out on this album, highlighting Nash’s craft as a songwriter.
Nash has yet to release any solo dates, but his band, Ponderosa, will be playing Athfest on June 21, at the New West Records Kick Off Party at 40 Watt, and then play the Bunbury Music Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio, Friday, July 13. The Troubadour’s Road will be sure to publish solo dates when they are made available, but in the meantime, be sure to get to a Ponderosa show.
