Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s own, Good Old War, with  their song, “Amazing Eyes,” off their album, Come Back As Rain, through Sargent House, which was released this past  Tuesday, on March 6.  This is the band’s third full-length album, and was recorded last spring in the studio of Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes and Cursive), in Omaha, Nebraska.  The record was produced by Jason Cupp.  The trio consists of the talented:  Keith Goodwin, Dan Schwartz, and Tim Arnold.

Good Old War is on a huge Spring Tour with shows throughout the United States and a few in Canada.  They will be making their way to Colorado soon, with a show in Colorado Springs, at the Black Sheep, on April 6th, and then head up to Denver, for a show on April 7th, at the Bluebird Theater.  Be sure to catch a live-show.

This is one of the best albums of 2012.  There aren’t many albums where you simply hit “play,” sit back, and let it finish.  This, however, is one of those albums.  They’ll be a group to continue to follow as they make their way down the troubadour’s road.

These words find their place in the song, “Amazing Eyes,”

“You have Amazing Eyes
The right one suspicious and the left one wants my love
I don’t care what you think I’ve done
I know I never meant no harm to anyone
I know I never meant no harm, at all

Is this wrong or only half right?
I won’t be gone, but I’ll stay the night
When I see you in the half life
I feel so fine
Everybody seems to wonder why
I go back to you every time
but I don’t mind, I don’t mind

‘Cause you have Amazing eyes
The right one suspicious and the left one wants my love
I don’t care what you think I’ve done
I know I never meant no harm to anyone…”
