Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases Wisconsin’s own, Field Report, with the songs, “I Am Not Waiting Anymore,” and “Fergus Falls,” which are both unreleased songs.  They are set to be on their upcoming release, in June.  The much anticipated album, which is a collection of songs six years in the making, was recorded this winter at the studio of Justin Vernon, the frontman for Bon Iver, in his Eau Claire, Wisconsin studio.

The group is led by the talented, singer/songwriter, Chris Porterfield.  Porterfield began his musical career in the group DeYarmond Edison, which included Vernon and the now members of Megafaun.  The band broke up in 2006, which is usually not a good thing, but taking the mentality of  thinking that the glass is half-full, the dissolution of that band spawned what would be Bon Iver, Megafaun, and now Field Report.  Simply put, what was one band is now three phenomenal bands.

The featured songs below are unmastered tracks, and are being streamed on the Field Report website.  This is just the beginning of something really special for Porterfield and his group.  Just remember the name, Field Report, for this level of talent will take them to wherever they want to go, and will be a band to continue to follow as they travel down the troubadour’s road.

Field Report is currently on tour with Megafaun, and one couldn’t ask for a better couple bands to take the stage night in, and night out.  They are set to play the Hi-Dive, in Denver, March 27th (line-up there includes Eye and the Arrow).  It is set to be a must-see show.

For updates, tour dates, and other news click on their website, and can follow them on their Facebook Page.  Until the next show, or until the next time you’ll be able to listen to them, here is Field Report, with their songs, “I Am Not Waiting Anymore,” and “Fergus Falls,” enjoy,
