Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases Paris, Texas’ own, Cas Haley, with his song, “Slow Down,” which is currently unreleased.  His most recent album is the incredible, Connection, which was released through Easy Star Records.  His song, “Better,” off that record, will soon be featured on The Troubadour’s Road.  The video, through a MoBoogie Rooftop Session, has Haley playing on top of Lodo’s Bar and Grill, here in Denver, Colorado, with Coors Field in the background.

I was fortunate to hear Haley last night as his concert with Trevor Hall was streamed via LiveStream.  You may, however, remember him from the show, “America’s Got Talent,” where he was the runner-up in Season 2.  His genre is reggae, and as Cas has said, “reggae’s core message is, after all, ‘one love,’ ” and has stated that his goal is- “To authentically express myself and help others do the same. Because it’s a sweet life to be able to do that.”  He is well on his way to that goal with his amazing music.

I really like Haley’s message in this song, for this mad world is in one continual hurry onto the next thing.  Everyone is in a race to get to the next stoplight.  He’s right, everyone needs to “slow down,” take in the sights and sounds, appreciate life, and chill out a bit.

These words begin his song, “Slow Down,”

“We got to slow down
Getting in tune with that island time
Yeah, we got to slow down

We got to slow down
Staying thankful every single day
Yeah, we got to slow down

Faster, faster, every day
Time moves on with little say
Round and round, stress will  knock us down
We got to get a hold
Living life in a repeat way…”
