Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases the Minneapolis, Minnesota band, Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps, with their  song, “Calliope,” off the album, Little Wind, through United Artists.  The group consists of Smith, Arlen Peiffer, Jesse Schuster, and David Earl.  The featured video was done by the North Shore Sessions, with half of the band, Smith and bassist Jesse Schuster, in a former orphanage in Duluth, Minnesota.

Little Wind was done at the Terrarium in Minneapolis with Jason Orris (Polara, Happy Apple, Haley Bonar), and was mixed by Tom Herbers (Low, Dark Dark Dark, Andrew Bird).  It is the follow-up to their incredible debut album, Backyard Tent Set.  Make sure to catch their show at  Leon, in Denver, Colorado, on February 2nd.

These words find their place in the song, “Calliope,”

When the cold breeze goes
I’ll be looking for my name in the bright lights
When the monster crows
I’ll be waiting for the bones to feed an appetite
When the bottom drops out that’s when I begin to lose it
I boarded up the door, spilled the water on the floor
So I use it, so I can use it
…”

For updates, tour dates, and other news click on their website, you can get their music here, and follow them on their Facebook Page.  Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps are on tour and will be in Denver, February 2nd, at the incredible local art gallery and music venue, Leon.  Until the next time you’ll be able to see a show or listen to them, here they are, with their song, “Calliope,” through the North Shores Sessions, enjoy,
