Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases the talented, Portland, Oregon band, Blind Pilot, with their song, “3 Rounds and a Sound,” off the album with the same title, and are now with Expunge Records.  They have since released their new album, We Are The Tide, with songs off that record to be featured in future articles on The Troubadour’s Road.

The band began in 2007 when Israel Nebeker (vocals, guitar) and Ryan Dobrowski (drums) set off, on their bicycles, on a tour of the West Coast.  This was the beginning of their rise, and had to be an incredible adventure as they played small-town venues along the coast.  The audience, as well as the band, have now grown, with other members Luke Ydstie (upright bass, backing vocals), Kati Claborn (banjo, dulcimer, backing vocals), Ian Krist (vibraphones) and Dave Jorgensen (keyboards, trumpet).

They played an incredible set at the inaugural Winter Park Solshine Music Festival, and will make their way back to Colorado in mid-November, on the 15th, at the Bluebird Theater, in Denver, Colorado.  They are a band to continue to follow as they travel down the troubadour’s road.

These words find their place in their song, “3 Rounds and a Sound,”

“Blooming up from the ground
3 Rounds and a sound
Like whispering you know me
And you know me

So this was our song
This was our song
I still see the lights
I can see them

And the criss cross
Of what is true, won’t get to us
Cause you know me
I could not give up on you

And the fog of what is right
Won’t cover us cause you know me
I could not give up a fight…”

For updates, tour dates, and other news click on their website, you can buy their music on iTunes, and follow them on their Facebook Page.  They are on tour in the US through December, and will be at the Bluebird Theater, in Denver, Colorado, November 15th.  Until the next time you’ll be able to see them, or until the next time you’ll be able to listen to them, here is Blind Pilot, with their song, “3 Rounds and a Sound,” from their session at KEXP Radio Studio in Seattle, enjoy,
